More Security Notes...

Homeowners and guests should be aware of the speed limits and the stop signs that are placed around the community are there for your protection AND should also be aware that the police will be ticketing cars for not obeying these rules and regulations on the roads inside Southern Dunes ! These signs are posted for the safety of ALL Southern Dunes Residents and guests!

It might be of interest to all residents and guests alike that the Security officers working at the gate are doing multiple tasks while manning the gate such as:

-Signing in guests that are visiting residents and staying at the leased homes.
-  The officers at the gate are required to get a FULL address from all
visitors before allowing the visitor thru the gate and onto the property.
- Opening the resident gate (far right hand side) for the residents with "proper decals".  (The officers are instructed to NOT open the gate without a visible decal or proper pass).
-Signing in visitors to the Clubhouse and Golf course.
-Maintaining the walk through locked gate (located on the exit side) on the sidewalk.
-Getting all visitors to return their passes along the exit side of the gatehouse to reuse these passes to save the community money.
-Keeping separate logs for visitors that are just going to the golf course or restaurant.
-Keeping separate logs for police patrols or calls made to Southern Dunes properties.

While doing these other duties, it may be a second or two before the resident gate is opened. Please try to understand and be patient with them. They are doing there best to keep our community as safe as possible! Thank you!

Household tips: Home fire safety is always a priority, and the following are a few tips to help keep your home and family safe. If you have any household tips you would like to share, we’d love to hear from you!

Home Fire Safety Checklist:

-Check the batteries in your smoke detectors often. A good time to change the battery is when you change your clocks for Daylight Savings time!

-Test your Smoke Detectors and replace any that are ten years or older.

-Position detectors per code, place one detector per living level and near the areas where you and your family sleep.

-Keep detectors away from heating and cooling ducts, at least six inches from where walls and ceilings meet.

-Keep fire extinguishers handy. Make sure there’s at least one on each floor especially, near the kitchen, garage and laundry room.

-Check the wiring. Have a professional electrician check for faulty wiring, especially if you own and older home.

-Check your dryer hose – lint build-up can cause over heating. Clean the hose and dryer annually.

-Talk with family and make sure everyone knows what to do in case of a fire breaks out. Create a fire safety plan. This should include a designated meeting place outside of the home. This will insure everyone is present and no one will be running back into the burning home or you can make the first Fire responder aware and tell them that this person or persons is missing and where they might be located.
